For many years, Winter Park has been referred to as Colorado's best kept secret, but the City Fathers, understandably ambitious to achieve the worldwide reputation Winter Park’s quality deserves, are keen to shrug off this image. You still may not have heard of it, but Winter Park is the third biggest ski area in Colorado and growing all the time. This is a resort everyone will be talking about in the future so go now, beat the rush, and enjoy the value! If you are looking for great snow, (as we skiers do), then this is the place to come.
On The Slopes
Winter Park has the most dependable snow of all Colorado's major resorts, with an amazing average of nearly 370 inches a season - in Euro language that’s 10 meters, and in anyone's language that’s a lot of snow! Winter Park is also the closest major ski resort to Denver, which is only 67 miles away. Winter Park is already one of the best of the West and there are huge development plans. Phase one has already been completed with the construction of a new village centre, and soon there will be even more trails, more lifts and more accommodation, creating the No 2 ski area in Colorado, second only to Vail.
The 30-acre "Discovery Park" is an excellent area for beginners who can learn the fundamentals in a controlled, sectioned-off area. Once up and running, Winter Park offers mile after mile of wide open intermediate slopes which are perfect for laid-back cruising, it's designed to make you feel and look like pro! For advanced and expert skiers the pull is the legendary steeps, deeps and moguls of Mary Jane. The locals say "No pain No Jane!" Every standard of skier gets maximum enjoyment. In a nutshell Winter Park offers everything to make a memorable ski course an outstanding one - great snow, plenty of sunshine, a big, varied ski area and easy accessibility.
