Stowe has been described as a "skiers paradise" located on Mt. Mansfield, Vermont's highest peak at 4,395 feet.
A quintessential New England town with rich cultural and historic links to Austria and Olde England coupled with the friendly family service offered by hotels, creates a charming and unique holiday atmosphere.
This picturesque village of cosy inns and quaint clapboard fronted buildings trails the 6 mile mountain road up to the ski area at Mount Mansfield, where you'll find one of the most expansive and modern ski resorts in Vermont.
On The Slopes
Situated at the top of Vermont, near the Canadian border, Stowe enjoys an average annual snowfall of 260 inches a year supplemented by powerful snowmaking covering 73% of the trails, allowing the mountain to maintain a great snow base throughout the season.
The 485 acres of ski terrain are split between Mt. Mansfield and Spruce Peak which is the perfect base for intermediates and beginners to progress.
Once beginners have gained their confidence, the instructors will lead them to the top of Mount Mansfield where they can ski almost 4 miles down Toll Road.
Advanced skiers can challenge themselves on the "Front Four" or in the "Tyro" terrain park where catching air is a real hit.
Beginners and intermediates can practice their skills in the smaller terrain parks at Spruce and the Midway Base area. If you cannot get enough skiing during the day, Stowe also offers some of the longest night skiing in New England which runs right from the top of the Gondola.
Off The Slopes
Stowe offers a multitude of quaint galleries and gift shops. Manchester Common and Essex Junction outlet shopping centres are worth a visit for picking up designer favourites at bargain prices and the famous "Ben and Jerry's" ice cream factory is located just 15 minutes away in Waterbury. The area also offers outdoor ice-skating, sleigh rides, Ten Pin Bowling, a 4 screen cinema, karaoke and disco nights.
