Schladming-Dachstein is the host of the 2013 Alpine World Cup and forms part of the largest combination of ski resorts in Austria. Your lift pass covers the resorts of Schladming, Salzburger Sportwelt, Gastein, Hochkönig and Grossarl offering you the choice between 270 lifts and 860km of piste! Still, your group might choose to mainly ski the vast Schladming - Dachstein area with extensive snowmaking and excellent piste grooming. Beginners and intermediates are very well-catered for with many interesting runs above and below the tree line.
On the slopes
The range of skiing in the Schladming-Dachstein area is extensive, with 77 lifts and over 167km of well-prepared piste. Schladming itself, with its 4 interconnecting mountains Planai, Hauser Kaibling, Hochwurzen and Reiteralm, has 117km of groomed pistes. This is where most of our school groups ski during their stay. It is excellent for beginners as the long, gentle blue runs at Rohrmoos make excellent nursery slopes. The 1,850m high Hochwurzen Mountain, served by a gondola or two interconnecting chairlifts, provides intermediate skiers with an excellent choice of long red runs back through the pine trees back down to Rohrmoos. It connects with a piste to the Valley Station at Pichl, the starting point for the Reiteralm ski area and a further range of long, ideal and fast runs, especially suitable for intermediate skiers. Advanced skiers will enjoy the challenge of Planai’s championship downhill course and its exhilarating steep final straight.
Off the slopes
Schladming is a lively town with numerous après-ski activities to offer including bowling, swimming, ice-skating, curling and sleigh rides. There are also some excellent shops and cafés.
