Obertauern is one of the country's highest ski resorts, and its outstanding snow record makes it a hugely popular choice for school ski trips to Austria. Obertauern is a purpose-built resort sitting in a breathtaking position high in a mountain pass. Surrounded by the scenic peaks of the Tauern, this resort will give your pupils a real taste of the high Alps.
On the slopes
The ski area at Obertauern, served by an outstanding lift system, is laid out as a circuit. This can be skied clockwise or anti-clockwise, mostly above the tree line with varied terrain, magnificent views and superb runs back to the village. There are excellent nursery slopes and a gentle green circuit for the beginners in your group, whilst intermediates have a fabulous choice of red pistes amongst the 100km on offer, with some terrific mogul fields for the more adventurous. For the experienced skier, Obertauern offers some stunningly steep descents from the very top of the ski circuit, as well as a formidable slalom course and many other on-and-off-piste options. Obertauern also has the Atomic Longplay Park which offers a great choice of action-packed fun facilities for snowboarders.
Off the slopes
The resort itself has a good range of activities including bowling and floodlit skiing, and the other villages in the Amadé region are easily accessible and offer a variety of other options.
