Bardonecchia lies in the beautiful Susa Valley, surrounded by wide, sunny slopes and splendid scenery. It’s a modern ski resort with excellent amenities and was the venue for all the snowboard races for the 2006 Winter Olympics as well as the site of the Olympic village.
On the slopes
Bardonecchia is divided into two main ski areas; the Colomion area and the Jafferau area, although all SkiPlan groups begin at the Campo Smith base lodge. Colomion is an excellent ski region with a well-designed lift system providing access to a host of inter-linking pistes and a great choice of tree-lined routes suitable for all abilities. The highlycommended ski school will ensure you get the most from this beautiful area. The Jafferau is located on the edge of town, and offers snow-sure slopes and an area particularly suited to beginners and intermediates. The whole resort boasts a total of 100km of marked runs, with thrilling skiing on narrow trails through larch forests and wide, open snow fields between the five peaks of the region. Advanced skiers enjoy a choice of black runs both at altitude and close to the village as well as varied off-piste skiing.
Off the slopes
Bardonecchia has a notable après-ski scene in both the streets of the old quarter and the more modern area. There are numerous bars and a selection of restaurants serving both traditional Italian and fast food.
