Situated high above the historic town of Briançon on the pass between France and Italy, Montgenèvre is one of France’s oldest resorts and maintains an authentic and traditional feel. A convenient and traffic-free resort centre offers a wide range of offpiste activities, whilst from the large natural ski area is snow-sure, sunny and uncrowded.
On the slopes
Simply cross the road from our ClubHotel and you’re ready to go, with a host of lifts and nursery slopes within a minute of the front door. Beginners can get to grips with the basic at village level before heading further up the mountain into the large open bowls to get a sense of scale and accomplishment, and they can even ski back to the hotel at the end of the session on a long blue track. As groups progress they move onto sweeping blues, fast reds with easy moguls and exciting paths twisting through trees. With a host of snowy bowls above the tree-line there’s plenty of variety on offer whatever your preference. Confident intermediates can ski over to Clavière and back and also enjoy the fantastic Colletto Verde. With a one-day Milkyway extension, advanced skiers can venture further afield to explore the endless possibilities – it’s a full day out, but well worth getting up early for!
Off the slopes
Off-piste activities include ice-skating, pizza and a range of inhouse activities from Karaoke to discos. The nearby town of Briançon has indoor skating and a sports centre. Briançon also boasts great shopping and the opportunity to explore the fascinating walled old town.
