Les Deux Alpes is amongst Europe’s highest winter sports resorts with a relaxed cosmopolitan atmosphere, fabulous skiing and snowboarding plus a wide range of slopes for all levels.
On the slopes
The slopes are spread along a 2km valley and there are over 220km of pistes served by 55 lifts, including the super-fast Jandri Express to the Mont de Lans glacier. The lower slopes are wide and somewhat steep but all abilities are catered for with a good range of high altitude cruising runs, demanding blacks and amazing off-piste possibilities. At village level there are easy slopes for beginners with access to a range of ski lifts. Intermediate skiers are spoilt for choice on both sides of the valley with the glacier offering the benefits of high level skiing and superb snow. From the top there is even a blue run of 12km back down to the resort! There are various exciting pistes for advanced skiers including 'Super Diable', a fearsome black run, plus a unique snow-park and a half-pipe. The extensive ski area, with long steep runs, makes it a challenge for the most hardened boarder. The resort continues to invest in improvements - the famous ‘red eggs’ are scheduled to be replaced for 2012-13 by a new 6-seater express with protected childrens' seats and an enhanced door-locking system for improved safety.
Off the slopes
Les Deux Alpes is undoubtedly one of the best resorts for après-ski for schools. Swimming, ice-skating, bowling and discos are all readily available. Your lift pass covers all lifts on the piste map and free admission to the outdoor swimming pool and ice-skating rink (skate hire is not included, but available at the rink).
