Lying beneath the impressive Monte Cavallo, the village of Piancavallo at
1300m has evolved from its beginnings as a purpose-built village, to a fully
fledged ski resort. Thanks to extensive snowmaking, conditions are normally
assured for most of the winter right back to resort level. Another advantage
of the resort is the lifts and pistes are easily accessible.

Doorstep skiing with good snowmaking facilities.
Convenient slope-side hotels.
On The Slopes
The attractive village of Piancavallo has become one of Italy's top ski
resorts, hosting championships on its World Cup Slalom and giant slalom runs
for over 14 years - its ski calendar is crammed with downhill and free-style
competitions. With doorstep skiing, excellent accommodation and après-ski,
it's a great choice for your school ski tour.
Piancavallo was one of the first European resorts to offer a snow guarantee,
thanks to the installation of 40 snow cannons. The resort is particularly
suited to mixed ability groups, due to the variety of skiing on offer.
The ski area of approximately 50km is accessed by an interconnecting system of
16 lifts rising to pistes spreading out from the village centre in all
directions - many runs having two or three alternative routes. The longest
lift is a two stage chairlift with dramatic summit views as far as the
Venetian coast and over to the peaks of the Slovenian border.
Apart from the excellent nursery areas where beginners start, there are many
challenging blue and red runs for good intermediates who, whatever their
level, will be able to ski back to the resort.
Off The Slopes
Piancavallo still retains the charm of a traditional Italian village. The
centre is small, friendly and virtually traffic-free, with a whole range of
activities on offer, including cafés, discos, bars and pizzerias, a sauna, a
superb ice rink and cinema with weekly English language films.
